The average review score for SOCOM is 60%. As expected, reviewers scored the game and never went back to update it. The reviews still talk about glitches that no longer exist. What the hell is wrong with review sites today?

This generation has updates and fixes. That's a fact. Yet these reviewers are living like it's the Super Nintendo days. Though I agree that games should be presentable when released, it still doesn't deserve a low ball score if the game gets fixed. Most reviewers just score it on release and walk away. This is one reason why reviews hold less weight today.

If Gears of War 2 had glitches on release, and it rated a 70%, it wouldn't be fair to leave it that way. On a positive note, a good thing about this situation is it will encourage developers to get it right next time, seeing their game is looking bad in the public eyes.

Because of the way SOCOM is designed, matches usually take longer and tend to move more slowly compared to most shooters. This wouldnt happen without the great level design and a focus on strategy and tactics. No place is ever safe on any map as every move you make can be countered, and the only way to really succeed is to change up strategies when opponents become familiar with them. The levels are big enough and complex enough to allow the game to almost continually change along with the players experience.

8.5/10

Actually IGN
reviewed the game after the new patch and still gave it 4.5/10 and said many of the glitches still remained.

Sony Computer Entertainment released SOCOM: Confrontation, the franchise's first steps onto the PS3. Unfortunately, the game has been plagued by a ton of bugs, glitches and server issues, and even two weeks after its release and a recent patch, the title is still severely flawed with technical problems.

You should never have to go back anyways to re-review a game. How many games that came out this generation that had patches leter added on to fix issues? None of those were redone in the reviews. Plus as IGN said, alot of the issues still remained after they used the new patch.

Deep down inside, I feel like SOCOM: Confrontation is a really fun game, but it still has some issues. Confrontation lacks many promised features including clan ladders, matchmaking, and a party system. Along with these omissions, the game still suffers from occasional freeze-ups and stuttering gameplay. It even locked up my PS3 once before, requiring a reset. Unfortunately, Confrontation still needs some work, even with the recent patch.

That's why this game scored low and the fact that the visuals are not exactly great compared to some of the games this generation. Especially its direct competitors: GRAW and RB6

1up Re-Reviewed Socom and gave it a B+......IGN HAS NOT re-reviewed it yet.

Then they will have to have two reviews then. One for the release, then one for the patch release.
Also they are going to do this, then they might as well review almost all the Xbox360 games now when the HDD install option comes out as that option will fix many of the issues and disadvantages running a game off the optical drive instead of the HDD brings.
If you do it one case, you have to do it in another.
Bottom line SOCOM failed.

They did not have to. They reviewed it WITH THE PATCH.

And they shouldn't. Release the game working. The review sites are right. If they do this then they have to do two reviews because of shitty programming. Not their fault. Its the programmers fault.
Moreover how may games have been released with patches this generation to fix bugs and issues and the reviewers never went back to review the game again? Only 1up this generation did this. Or what they can do is do what IGN did. They waited two weeks until the patch was brought out and then reviewed it.
