This is just a rumor as of now.

I hope this is untrue. I can just see it, now: Rick Deckard is called back into action to hunt down some deadly replicants, only this time with the aid of a scrappy new partner played by Shia LeBauff (the guys that wrote Eagle Eye are writing the script, so why not?), who may or may not be a replicant, but as it turns out, is the son that Deckard never knew about.

Yeah. You won't sleep for a few days after reading that.

I love Blade Runner. If there is a sequel, I wouldn't even bring Deckard back. Unless you want Harrison Ford to come back and play genetically-aged "Old Deckard" a la MGS4 lol. I'd go watch it.

WTF

I just remembered something: Blade Runner takes place in 2012-- just four years from now. When would the sequel take place? It wouldn't make sense for it to take place soon after the original, since the world of 2013 would most definitely not look like the future Philip K. Dick envisioned.

Maybe they're planning a remake (oh shit!).

Then again, this might not be a sequel or a remake. It might be some stand-alone project that takes place in the Blade Runner universe, like Minority Report or Total Recall or (gasp!) Soldier.

Will it be directed by Ridley Scott? If so, cool! If not, could be a letdown.

I don't know, but last year Scott did express interest in making another SF film. Initially, it rumored that he was adapting Brave New World, but who knows?

They already put Harrison Ford back in his coffin.

Yeah, I went ahead and read the article. Doesn't look to me like it is going to happen.

If a sequel is made, Deckard's replicant status has got to stay ambiguous.

He *is* a replicant, though.
