Cryptic Studios is "definitely interested" in releasing a PS3 version of upcoming PC and Xbox 360 superhero MMO Champions Online, the developer said.

Speaking during a presentation to press at Leipzig Games Conference last month, Cryptic designer Aaron Safronoff said that the studio "would like to deliver the game to as many platforms" as possible.

Currently, Champions Online, based on the Champions table top IP, is slated for release for PC and Xbox 360 only in spring 2009.

When asked why there is no PS3 version planned, Safronoff replied: "The PS3 version is something we're definitely interested in. But as far as that launch time it will just be those two. As far as any specific reason why we haven't done it yet, I actually don't know that answer. But as far as time is concerned, we were already built in. We wanted to do the 360 and PC right away. Basically that was the quickest transition for us to get a game on the market."

He added: "We are certainly looking into it, absolutely. We would like to deliver the game to as many platforms as we possibly could."

who really cares tho about this news?????????? i got DC Universe and The Agency coming soon and FreeRealms if im feeling really eccentric. Champions Online can pass. hell, the NCSoft MMO hasnt even been announced yet after sony buying them n u KNOW the team behind Guild Wars can craft a masterful ps3/ pc MMO

They are interested but they didnt say they were certainly making a PS3 version.. Even so, if they did work for the PS3 it wouldn't hurt Xbox360 any so I don't know what all the "not looking to good for the Xbox360" crap is about -.-

The word "exclusive" usually means it will be on another console in three to six months.

There are actually way too many MMO's coming out for PS3 in my opinion. I would've been fine with The Agency and DC Universe Online; but I can't imagine people playing more than 2 or even more than 1 on a console.

In any case, from a neutral standpoint if anyone likes Champions Online and is a PS3 owner, this could turn into good news. But its not something very ice shattering considering the amount of MMO's in the PS3's camp already.
