  • Has Sony come up w/ one original idea in gaming?

I mean sure Nintendo has been very innovative, almost as much as Atari was (Atari had the 1st joystick) Nintendo had the first thumbstick. Sega had the 1st (that I know of) built in internet connectivity on dreamcast.

MS had the 1st built in HDD (mistake all 360's dont). XBL is 1st for consoles (but done on PCs).

So what has Sony done 1st? Don't get me wrong, I owned a PS1 and loved it, not biased towards any company, but whats w/ them ripping everyone off, and they are blantant about it. Copied motion sensing controllers, XBL to a degree, now the keyboard attachment and the achievements.

Sony is starting to annoy me like EA.

Well, a lot of people forget about the Eyetoy, which was a neat concept for it's time. It's a form of motion sensing control that came before the Wii-mote, that wasn't all too popular. Of course, you can argue that there was that Power Glove by Nintendo and that Octagon thingy by Sega or whatever.

I'm not too sure, but I think Sony was the first to have a console that featured built in Rumble to their controllers? And dual analog sticks? Not too good on my history, so I'm not sure.

I think you're right about dual analog.

What about L1, L2, R1, R2? Having 4 shoulder buttons.

umm its hard to say about the rumble. N64 came out w/ a rumble pak add on, and sonys 1st controller was not rumble on PS1. Sony did get sued for copy right infringement tho.

Eyetoy is a good one, didn't catch on, and I don't know of anyone else that did it first in consoles, so touche :D

meh, SNES had shoulder buttons, albeit only 2, they did it 1st.

The rumble pack may have came before but I can't remember. I do recall it being massive though. At least Sony did something right at the time and shrunk the damn thing and had it built in.

They did manage to make a controller design that has hardly changed in 12 years or so.

LIVE wasn't the first for online consoles. It was the dreamcast.

Sony added blu -ray to gaming. Its like introducing CD ROMs during the cartridge period
