Betrayal, a form of deception or dismissal of prior presumptions, is the breaking or violation of a presumptive social contract (trust, or confidence) that produces moral and psychological conflict within a relationship amongst individuals, between organizations or between individuals and organizations. Often betrayal is the act of supporting a rival group, or it is a complete break from previously decided upon or presumed norms by one party from the others.(Definition quoted from Wikipedia).
Why does Square, or any company for that matter, say it's coming for one system but then release it for another? I feel that these are deceptive practices. How many people have purchased a console only to find out later they didn't have to? Why can't these companies just make up their mind from the start instead of just leading people on?
The same thing has happened numerous times on the 360. I don't think ANY gamer appreciates seeing a game listed for a console for over a year....as an exclusive...only to be turned multiplatform.
Now it would be different if Square just said it was a timed exclusive...or even that it would go to 360 right from the start. However Square has repeatedly denied any chance of a 360 release, which they lied, yet they turn around after millions of people have purchased a PS3 after looking at the lineup.
Now imagine if you are a 360 owner, who purchased a PS3 for MGS4, only to find out later that it was going to 360 anyway. Wouldn't you feel ripped off that you invested in another console for nothing? I would. This crap has got to stop. How many 360 exclusives were lost to PS3 in this same manner? Quite a bit.
These companies need to decide what product they're selling to consumers. Quit changing the hardware, and make up your mind which console is going to have which games. Whether it's a lost 360 exclusive or PS3 exclusive, it needs to end. These titles should be planned and set in stone...or don't announce it. Period.
