The Church is filing a suit against the game Resistance:Fall of Man for the PS3 because apparently in one of the levels you go into a nationally known church and kill a bunch of the creatures, apparently they didnt get permission to use that certain church in the game. Right now I cant remember the name of that church but ill find out and if you know, tell everybody.

This user is completely without Sig... Sigless. Not at all Siggy wit' it. This is an ex-Sig.
It was Manchester Cathedral, and Sony is claiming to have all necessary permissions. It's a really fuzzy case, but even if the permissions were granted, it may have been improperly presented to the church, and it may still be considered desecration of Holy/Sacred space, considering that a shootout occured within the church in the game.

Meh...I'd be more worried about the press going crazy over the "Harvesting" process in Bioshock. If you don't know what I'm talking about...head on over to 1up.com and check out their Bioshock coverage. heh.

Still, if you use a real church, there are elements of reality. They did need to get the rights to use the architecture in the first place didn't they? That's reality.

There was a similar situation in Hitman 2 I believe....the developers had you go through a Muslim Mosque...needless to say...the Muslim community was not very happy....so the developers had it removed in newer copies of the game.

EDIT: Also...GTA: Vice City had a mission called "Kill All Hatians" this also caused an uproar and it was removed from future versions of the game. - Linken

In other words...if this debate does not calm down....Insomniac may end up cutting the Cathedral from future versions of the game.
