  • What is the appeal of the PS2?

Post a Reply

Like many other gamers I bought a PS2 for Grand Theft Auto 3. Other than the GTA series I havent played any other PS2 games that made me happy with my PS2 purchase.

Is it the Sony play Station name that made you buy a PS2?

Let me count the names? Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Tekken, Shadow of the Collosus, Okami, Guitar Hero (though that is changing), Gran Turismo, and if you are an JRPG fan you probably are going to want a PS2. Those are just a few reasons why my PS2 purchase was warranted.

I call 'em as I see 'em comin'
It was the 1,500 other PS2 titles to choose from. Opposed to the 950 Xbox games and the 650 Gamecube games. I like to play video games on my gaming console, and the PS2 just offered so much more than the other two consoles.

I like the huge library of games, there is/was something for everyone to play with the PS2.

Yes the PS2 had the largest game library but i would argue that a large percent was made up of games that werent that good. I would go so far to say that even though XBOX & Game Cube had smaller game libraries that they had more quality games.

PS2 = Quantity? XBOX - Game Cube = Quality?

Like the others said, the huge selection of games.

all those reasons, and the fact that my friends had them. i could go over to their place, or vice versa, and just bring a game and controller and play. and it was the first console that was BC and i didn't want to get a xbox or gamecube (at the time) if i aleady had ps1 games to play on my ps2. that, and it was the first console that played dvds. i watch movies a lot.

I never saw the PS2 as a "bring it over to your friends house to play games togther console". I lost track of the times i took my GC over someone house to play a lot of multiplayer games. I have never seen anyone playing 4 player PS2.

well, Nintendo has always had quality stuff. even the system box was high quality lol. xbox and ps2 had some pretty crappy quality games. ps2 seemed like it was all quanitity, that happened cuz everyone had them. why would a developer make games for a system that didn't sell (gamecube as an example), when they could make a game for a sytem that sold well? they'd theoretically make more money with a bigger target audience. i see where your coming from though
