As much as I hate to disagree with Gamepro, MGS4 will not sell a crapload of systems for Sony, especially if there is still not a price cut by the time it is released. It will sell a few systems, no doubt about it, but a crapload? To me the series' peak was with MGS2. Undoubtedly it was one of the best games I ever played, and I played it everyday all day and night until I beat it. Unfortunately though I think the game lost most of its thunder when people found out that GTA3 was the reason to own a PS2, not MGS2. And to me, MGS3 was a disappointment. Maybe it was because it didn't wow me like MGS2, or I had lost my interest in that type of game by the time it was released. But I've been playing the game for almost a year and have yet to beat it, unlike when I found it almost impossible to put down MGS2.
This generation, I think most systems will be sold based on the number of games people want to play for that particular system, not just a rushed judgment based on there being one particular game of interest. I still haven't jumped on the next-gen bandwagon, but to me the Xbox 360 looks like the more logical choice. Exclusive games like Dead Rising and Gears of War sound better to me than Resistance, and Saints Row and Oblivion will be on both sytems. And although Gamepro doesn't usually report rumors, the "other" gaming mag reported that MGS4 will eventually come to Xbox 360, although Konami will never officially say that until they think they've sold every PS3 version they can. To me, MGS4 is not a game that will make me spend $500 or $600 for a system. It's a game that I might want to buy or rent when it eventually comes out for Xbox 360. Until then I won't worry about it.
