Nothing to discuss really.. $600 is a lot of money for most gamers especially when the competing systems are quite a bit less. I'm glad you think it's worth it but a lot of people don't agree.
Gamers have been looking for better graphics, better sound, better realism in games. Have been demanding it. They want backwards compatibility, they want a HD, they want all this stuff. Sony did their best to please them. You want a cheaper system, stop demanding all this stuff.
To support the gamer: Sony should have found a better way of doing these things, or opted for the optional HD. However, with more games going online and requiring downloadable content, that is a nearly impossible dream.
Frankly, both parties are to blame for the cost. To say Sony is stupid is like saying that Alienware is stupid for selling a 3 grand system that we can buy from Dell for a grand. *shrugs*
If Sony really is losing $200 for every system they sell, then they must have gone retarded. I don't buy that at all.

u sony-suckers do wat u wanna do (if ur not one, then this does not apply to u). go ahead & spend $600 on the ps3, i've been enjoying my 360 & Oblivion & i will be enjoying my Wii when it launches. i'll be doing a lot of next-gen gaming, & i won't have a big hole burnt through my wallet.

Not that I really care all that much about either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD at this point.
