Is the controller fun to use?
Yes. It works very well, even as a pointer in the menus. It feels smooth, responsive, and not "jittery." It's actually quite a it like using a mouse. The controller is responsive in games, too, though Excite Truck takes a little getting used to. In that game, you hold the controller sideways like a steering wheel. I found that if you tilt it too far when trying to make a tight turn, it actually starts to turn the *other* way because the sensor gets confused (I think). Otherwise, it's very nice.
Is it a gimmick, or is it going to revolutionize the gaming industry?
Hard to say. I like it, but launch games aren't always the best way to tell how good a console will ultimately be. It's not a blatant gimmick, though you can see Nintendo is aiming at non-gamers with many of the games, such as Excite Truck. It seems like a great party system.
How many hours of playtime do you think you'll get out of Wii Sports?
It's definitely fun. I like the Tennis and Boxing modes best. But Wii Sports seems to mostly just show off how the controller works, and for that, it's a very nice pack-in. I doubt you'll be playing much of it in three months, though I could be wrong.
How does the Wiimote feel in your hand?
GREAT. It's super, super comfortable and has a slick feel. The Nunchuck is even better -- the molded handgrip just makes you want to hold it. It's a very comfy-feeling system overall. Oddly, I should mention that the Wiimote alone is much heavier than the PS3's Sixaxis.
Virtual Console?
Not up and running yet. Hopefully by the end of the week...
