GTA4 leaves out a few things that kind of bummed me out after playing awhile.

I just wish they would have thought out the gun play system a little bit more. It's kind of slow and cumbersome. I don't bother with the cover system anymore because it gets me killed more than it helps. I'm better off with the squat and duck like San Andreas. So the game makes me appreciate Gears of War a whole lot more.

Hand to Hand combat. San Andreas again made it simple and effective. Why the change? I don't know but now it's sort of useless.

No Dodo or airplanes...unless I haven't found them yet. Is the police copter the only one in the game? I'm only 30% through so I might be wrong if there are planes and other helicopters.

What happened to the parachute? The first thing I wanted to do was parachute off the Empire State Building. I'm not looking at cheats yet so I don't know if it exists or not. It was a fun thing to mess with in San Andreas too.

Why can't I say things to people on the street? San Andreas let you say something positive or negative and you could round up a crew to ride with you in story mode. It should be noted you can yell at your friends online with the LB though.

No custom radio station...you can play your tunes but it isn't like San Andreas where you could have your own mix in the car and still hear the GTA commercials in between. Also your custom soundtrack doesn't shut off when you exit vehicles. Just sad to see it not make it into the game. It was a great feature on Xbox.

I am sure there is more but I can't help feeling a bit let down by GTA4. Usually everything is a step up but other than graphics and a great story...I feel overall its a step backwards or it stayed the same.

Online is fun for sure though so it makes up for some of my gripes. Maybe the future DLC with feature some of the things I listed.

Anything you guys notice?

*EDIT* I haven't found a camera if there is one. Taking snapshots was cool with San Andreas. Maybe with the cell phone later? I don't know.

You know what they left out? GAMEPLAY!! Thats what they left out!! I am still pretty early in the game, just played a mession where I had to chase some dude in a car...then he got out and started running and I had to chase him....up stairs...around...up a ladder..etx. Nikko controles like a soft piece of shit, the cars drive like shit turds. When I play this game I feel like I have turettes!!! Every aspect of control in this game is CRAP from the nonexistant hand to hand to the pray to god you hit something gunplay right down to controlling this wobbly short bus window washer of a schlep!!

the things you listed dont affect much. and hand to hand just takes practice, so progress through the game, much much better.

I agree. I'm an expert driver and fighter in the game now. I can counter and dodge in hand to hand with the best of them. And the gunplay is tops in my book over past GTA games. As far as talking to people, I never did it in San Andreas so it's no big deal to me.

i like the gun/cover system 100x more its not hard for me... i do wish you could go in more buildings i was surprised you couldn't jack a plane but if you could you could crash it into some buildings so that might be why they left that out i would like to be able to talk to people on the road but its not that important for me but for me i am not disappointed at all this game is great and massive the planes and building interiors are the only thing i dont really like the cover system works good i think and so does the gun play but this is just m/o
