First off, yes, the Halo franchise is fun. Multiplayer aside, it's okay. Again, this is my THEORY/OPINION!
When the first Halo came out for the original XBox, it was the only FPS that was really worth your money. Don't argue with me, it was really the best out there. HOWEVER, not only were there other (at least) equally good FPS' out there, but more came out afterwards. Yes, I have played all of the Halo games. But I have also played other games from other systems.
My point is, Halo is a pretty good game that hit legendary status because it was al that the XBox owners had to play. NOT because it was really that good. For that genre, it was as good as they had it. This is how it went.....
1) Halo is awesome! 2) Halo is the best game on the XBox!!!! 3) Halo is the best game out right now!!!!!111!!!! 4) Halo is the greatest game of all time!!! ROXORS!!! LOL!!!!!
The famous "Hype Machine" created this insane spiral where the game's followers began actaully convincing the general public that the game was bigger that it really was. Think about all of the people that bought the sequels just because, "It's Halo"...
I'm not saying the game sucked. I'm not saying that the hype was hurting any business. I'm just saying that Halo was/is not the greatest thing to ever happen to gaming.

trying to give gamers all the BASIC EXPECTED features that Microsoft has set the trend for.
