  • Castlevania (Greatest Series Ever)

Castlevania goes down in history (for me) as the greatest series ever................ Everyone has been a hit (minus the N64 attempt), and I don't believe anyother series has constantly brought out a hit after hit (except for Metal Gear, another one from Konami).

It is past due for Konami to bring out a true 2D Castlevania for the 360 or PS3. The handheld ones are all great, but its time to see a HD home system version.................Konami is currently working on another 3D version. I'm not a fan of their 3D games, and this one won't be a bid deal for me either unless it plays like Ninja Gaiden in 3D.

With Capcom bringing out a 3D w/ 2D gameplay in Street Fighter 4, Konami may try something along the same lines.

BTW, if you have a PSP get the Dracula X Chronicles...............It's freak'in awesome, and Konami has stated if it sells well on the PSP they would do another one for it.

List of Castlevania games:

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles 2007 (PSP) Castlevania Double Pack 2006 (Game Boy Advance) Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin 2006 (Nintendo DS) Castlevania: Curse of Darkness 2005 (PlayStation 2, Xbox) Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow 2005 (Nintendo DS) Castlevania: Lament of Innocence 2003 (PlayStation 2) Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow 2003 (Game Boy Advance) Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra 2002 (Windows) Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance 2002 (Game Boy Advance) Castlevania Chronicles 2001 (PlayStation) Castlevania: Circle of the Moon 2001 (Game Boy Advance) Castlevania 1999 (N64) Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness 1999 (N64) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night 1997 (PlayStation, Saturn, Xbox 360) Castlevania Legends 1997 (Game Boy) Castlevania: Dracula X 1995 (SNES) Castlevania Bloodlines 1994 (Genesis) Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo 1993 (TurboGrafx CD, Wii) Super Castlevania IV 1991 (SNES, Wii) Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge 1991 (Game Boy) Kid Dracula 1993 (Game Boy) Akumajo Special: Boku Dracula-kun! 1990 (NES) Castlevania: The Adventure 1989 (Game Boy) Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse 1989 (NES) Castlevania II: Simon's Quest 1987 (NES, Wii) Castlevania 1986 (Amiga, Commodore 64, DOS, Game Boy Advance, NES, Wii) Vampire Killer 1986 (MSX)

Would you recommend " Symphony of the Night"? That would be the next game I buy off PSN.

it was considered the best and most critical acclaimed of the series, before it started becoming 3D.

Its strange that Konami hasn't released a new 2D Castlevania after SotN on the PS1 & Saturn (on a home system that is)................

Castlevania SotN is included in the Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP.................3 Castlevania's for one price.

Its a good franchies but i think the 1st 3 kinda suck, castlevania 4 was the 1st to have a good interface for the stairs. And the 3d games are pretty weak to poop.imo

CastlevaniaIV DracX & most of the GB games own!! (- the 1st GB one only due to the fact its like a 5 minute game)

Id say doom or quake even though not as old are far better series as far as cosistant quality goes..

Symphony of the Night is my second favorite game of all time, so yeah, get it.

I can't wait 'til I'm old enough to feel ways about stuff.
