What title do you think ranks as the most bad ass side-scrolling/overhead shooter of all time?

I think AXELAY for the SNES was severly underated, at least as far as the mainstream is concerned, but it was definitely bad ass!

GUNSTAR HEROES!! If you haven't played it, you missed out on what I consider the greatest action game EVER created.
