WoW is really the easiest MMO to start playing and progress in. The character creation is pretty simple, you'll pick your race, class, faction, and character name, and aspects of your appearance like hair facial hair, skin color, etc. Once you start playing, you should be able to find a guild to join pretty easily (or start your own if you wanted to). Yeah, there's certainly some people who will tell you to press alt+f4 to use an ability or something, but people are generally very understanding if you're new.
After you create your character, you'll be in a starting zone with low-level monsters and quests. You'll see NPCs (non-player characters) with yellow exclamation points above their heads; that means they have a quest for you to do. Quests are the main way of progressing through the game and leveling your character. Usually they involve killing a certain number of monsters or gathering items.
