PSP has amazing hardware that can almost compare to the PS2's but the DS's can berely compare to the N64's. But as a gamer I know what it comes down to ......wait for it.... GAMES. If the ds didnt have any fun games it wouldnt be massacreing the PSP. Why did the PSP fail to deliver the handheld experience? because it tried to deliver a console experience and may have suceded at that. And the DS with its unique microphone and touch screen introduced a new way to play games. And if you dont have a DS its a blast using the microphone and the touch screen to play games. So what it really came down to was innovation. Like Nintendos president has said for the wii. The DS was unique and the PSP was a boring console experience. Ive got to hand it to the DS.

First of all, I wouldn't say that the DS is masscuring the PSP. 40 million to 20 million isn't a masscare. It is great for the handheld market because that is where people will be making games. Look at DQIX and it is coming to the DS. Why? Because the DS has a large install base. I have owned a PSP and now own a DS Lite. I love both systems but I have to agree with you that the PSP does not offer anything new to gamers while the DS does that and I personally think that the DS is much more fun to play with. The PSP is not lacking when it comes to titles...the problem is it's like playing a console just as you say. I love what is coming up for the Nintendo DS especially the good stuff from Square Enix especially DQIX. The PSP does have FFVII: Crisis Core but I'm not really that excited to play a console RPG on a handheld.

I think Nintendo's success has more to do with the change at the top at Nintendo. When the old CEO stepped down and Iwata took over, that is when Nintendo's fortunes really turned around. I'm hoping the same happens at Sony with Ken K stepping aside at Sony.

I have to wonder what the PSP 2 will be like and I'm sure Sony won't be trying to bring console gaming to handhelds the next time around.

Pac-Man, Galaga, and New Rally-X: Ageless classics!
Nintendo DS.

The PSP takes itself too seriously and it may have the advantage in hardware, but when it gets to the point where you're watching more movies on the system than playing games, it can no longer be called a "gaming handheld." This defeats it's purpose and makes it nothing more than a big ass ugly video player that has games which are about as good as the ones on the iPod. The DS is all about games, an inuative control setup, a very inexpernsive price, and just a little bit of multiplayer goodness.

When will Sony learn...

I had a DS and recently got a PSP and I have to say that I think the PSP blows the DS away. I don't know why everyone says that the PSP has no good games. They are great. Plus the multimedia features are awesome. The DS has childish games and is not as good as the PSP.

What should be in my sig???
i know this is kinda off topic but did u guys know the ds has a longer lasting battery

That depends. During gameplay certainly, but the PSP can last 10+ hours in MP3 mode. Plus, you can turn off a game without really turning it off. A huge benefit, if I do say so myself. Besides, there's also the 2X battery for PSP.

I have both system's too and i'd have to agree with you that the psp is more for the "adult" crowd with ps2 like graphics and multimedia capibilities it IS a source of massive potential and idk wat u other ppl are saying about not too many good games i mean SOCOM ratchet and clank ape escape gran turismo oblivion most of these games are already out for the psp or coming within this year or early next year so sony will be bringing the heat REAL soon and besides the psp came with online first the ds came up with it later but for me it was more hassle then it was worth to play online with my ds while the psp was a simple button push to go online so i'd have to give it to the psp just because of it's growing game library and amazing versitility

its hard to say but i go for the ds because its an actual handheld videogame system. sony tried focusing on trying to attract more than just gamers and plus it onlys has one analog making you wonder what happened to dual analog. plus the psp only has a couple good games out right now. and x-play gave a lot of bad reviews for the psp's games. so in the end i got to go for the ds

PSP should be pretty interesting in how it interacts with the PS3 it also has more potential in the future. Sure right now DS is better, but it is not always about the present.
