Wizards & Warriors (previously Swords and Sorcery) is a first-person 3D role-playing game from D.W. Bradley, creator of several games in the classic Wizardry series. Set in the fantasy realm of Gael Serran, the game will have players embarking on a quest to find the mythical Mavin Sword and defeat the evil Cet Ude D'ua Khan, the Lord of Death.
Up to 6 party members can be created from 11 different clans, which, apart from the usual humans and elves, include such unique species as the reptilian lizzords and the oomphaz, a race of elephantine mystics. You can also choose one of 15 classes for your characters, including wizard, paladin, or ninja (Just the thought of an elephant ninja has got me intrigued.)
The combat system is a combination of real-time and turn-based fighting dubbed Adaptive Time-Phasing (ATP) - where the action will take place in real time while the player is fighting, but will stop to allow the player to ready spells and plan battle strategy.
With 300 monsters and more than 100 non-player characters to interact with, Wizards & Warriors is promising over 120 hours of gameplay, which should be more than enough to keep RPG fans satisfied. Look for it this fall.
