The original tomb raider-not Lara Croft's dad, but Indiana Jones-is back in LucasArts' Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. You've seen all the gameplay elements before in the Tomb Raider series, but this time you get the whip and Indy's trademark charm as you race against the Russians through 15 levels while finding all the pieces to Babylonian god Marduk's time machine. The sound is great, which is rare for an N64 title and the controls have received a good overhaul since the PC version. The graphics are great and sport clean textures and well-designed environments so you'll enjoy the visuals while exploring Babylon, Russia, Mexico, and other exotic locales.
Graphics: 4.0
Graphically, Indy is sharp, sporting clean textures and well-designed environments.
Sound: 4.5
The sound is the strongest part of the game, which is rare for an N64 title. The voice-acting is excellent, and nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment you get from clearing a tough puzzle and hearing Indy's trademark theme music.
Control: 4.0
The controls have received a good overhaul since the PC version's, and they work very smoothly-you'll basically be Lara Croft with a whip. The N64's twitchy analog stick causes some accuracy problems, but, overall, it work's well.
Fun Factor: 4.0
It's Indy! He's one of the coolest guys in the world and helping him through down and dirty missions is a worthy undertaking. Machine provides perfect Indy-style adventure fun.
