Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Revenge of the Sith is a straightforward, but thoroughly enjoyable, side-scrolling beat-'em-up.

Revenge of the Sith is a straightforward beat-'em-up, even with a power-up system that rewards players for their "Jedi style," and how quickly they complete each level, granting access to their choice of tactical upgrades. In true old-school fashion, many of the enemies are really the same sprite with a different palette mapped onto them, and most challenges come from the quantity of enemies rather than quality AI--but the control is right on the money, and the silky smooth game play is fun and addictive. The levels are a touch repetitive, but you'll be enjoying yourself too much to notice.

Boss battles mix things up a bit--simply mashing buttons is ineffective, and blocking appropriately is an absolute necessity; they require more concentration to beat, and never seem "cheap" or unreasonable. Winning feels like an accomplishment rather than a stroke of dumb luck.

Beautifully drawn and animated, not to mention surprisingly involving, Revenge of the Sith should please any action gamer, Star Wars fan or not.
