Bassmasters 2000

Not so long ago, Sega Bass Fishing showed the world that bass fishing can be fun. Unfortunately, THQ's Bassmasters 2000 manages a big step backward, giving you plenty of realistic fishing, but nowhere near enough fun.

Bass-Ackwards
Bassmasters 2000 looks good on paper - or as good as a bass game can look. It features a license from the B.A.S.S. Masters TV show and professional anglers Roland Martin and Shaw Grigsby, Jr. You can fish in real lakes, with real boats and authentic fishing tackle and compete in the prestigious Bassmasters Tournament. An underwater camera shows you just what the fish think of your technique, and there's even a two-player split-screen multi-player mode. Great, huh?
Master of Nothing
The problem is that Bassmasters manages nothing more than mediocrity. If you're a fishing fan (and who isn't), you'll likely get into the realistic touches, the real equipment, and the tips from the bassmasters themselves, but others will bounce off the lame graphics, the generic country/western tunes and the simplistic and boring gameplay. Bassmasters 2000 might appeal to the hardcore bass angler, but it just doesn't have the right lures to hook today's hardcore gamer.
