Sometimes, you just can't figure out why you keep playing a game. Worms: Armageddon for N64 surely doesn't dazzle, but it's still addictive fun.

Bombs Away
As in previous incarnations of the Worms series, the premise is straightforward. You control a battalion of worms, and you must take out all the other worms. To do so, you must strategically utilize your troops and the high-powered weaponry at your disposal. Be careful, however. This is a turn-based game, so if you don't do the job, your enemy will make you pay in the next round.
Worms: Armageddon doesn't really take advantage of the N64 graphics since it takes place in randomly generated 2-D cartoon landscapes. The worlds are bright and bizarre, and the worms are little pink blobs that wiggle around and occasionally fire bazookas, grenades, and dynamite. You're not playing this game for the visuals; you're playing because it's fun. The sound is very simple, but its minimalist humor is a welcome breather from endless explosions. If you miscalculate the trajectory of a mortar shot, your target will yell out, "Missed me!" The N64 controller may make you long for the PC version, but it's good enough.
Morning Glory
Worms: Armageddon won't dazzle you with graphics or stun you with sound, but it will suck you in with its simple playability. Before you know it, you'll glance up from the TV only to be greeted by the sun, rising like an eye-piercing, flaming disk punishing you for staying up all night again.
