The Revenge of Shinobi

Segas number-one ninja sneaked onto the Game Boy Advance when nobody was looking. But should you take notice?

Handheld ninja goodness is what youd expect from any game bearing the Shinobi title, but thats not the case here. Dont confuse this game with the 16-bit Sega Genesis classic as theyre two completely different games.

While Overworks, the developer behind the PS2 Shinobi game, was involved somewhat, the main duties fell to 3d6 Games who managed to put together a forgettable handheld gaming experience.

Revenge plays out like a standard action title complete with slashing swords and flying shurikens. Unfortunately, you get a limited supply of throwing stars and slicing up the bad guys quickly gets repetitive. The graphics are generic, but the audio presentation is quite nice. The Game Boy Advance has a large library of average side-scrolling action games, and Revenge of Shinobi is just a slight notch above them. This game is worth looking into only if you're big on ninjas.
