TDK's love letter to thumb-jockeying otaku everywhere, Robotech: Battlecry, boasts crackerjack cel-shaded animation, meticulously detailed models, and vocal talents of actors from the cartoon�verily the makings to produce melon-sized lumps in the throats of Protoculture addicts everywhere. And as a third-person shooter Battlecry provides in a mindless kind of way, but those not so enamored by the 'toon may not get past the game's repetitive missions, chintzy AI, and sluggish maneuverability. Being able to transform between three Veritech forms on the fly, each of which is tailored towards different environmental layouts and specific mission objectives, does lend Battlecry a level of depth shooter fans will appreciate, but the endless rescue, escort, and dogfighting missions get real old real fast. Though fans may scream sacrilege, you'll probably want to rent first.
