Extra Credit Efforts
The graphics engine has been completely revamped with smoother 60 frames-per-second onscreen action, more detailed player and stadium models, and a more useful playbook interface overlaying each play on the field. Additional improvements include being able to call ?hot routes? for your receiver at the line of scrimmage and more control of your special ?game breaker? on the team. Solid controls and the new kicking interface allow for total control of your punting game. Authentic school fight songs with unobtrusive booth commentary, various game modes, and the ability to recruit hot prospects from high school and junior colleges all add to the realism of the college ball experience. Online play is a prerequisite this year for every PS2 football game, but at press time the reviewable version wasn't ready for online gameplay.
Wait Till Next Season
This year it?s clear that GameBreaker?and its sibling NFL GameDay?are much better in all facets of gameplay. It doesn?t deserve starter status because its competition has a bigger head start with their titles, but it?s definitely a big step in the right direction to contend for console dominance next year and beyond.
