Marv Albert:
The confetti has fallen and the champagne has been sprayed, Kobe Bryant has done it, and this time without the help of Shaquille O'Neal!Bryant's seven-year quest for another NBA Championship is over; he has finally stepped out of his former teammate's enormous shadow to claim his fourth ring, and boy did he do it with style.
30 points, six rebounds, five assists and four blocks in a resounding 99-86 win here in Game 5 to put down the Orlando Magic once and for all. We take you now live to the post-game, and I guess post-season press conference already in progress.
PR Handler: .
.. Mr. Bryant is taking questions next and then we'll wrap up with Coach Jackson.Over eager member of the press 1:
Mr. Bryant, Mr. Bryant! Can you describe for us what your feeling right now? How does it feel to be on the cover all across the world?Kobe Bryant:
Well, I have to say, it's pretty incredible. I've had dreams of this moment all season, but I never thought about winning the Finals' MVP, or being on the front page of all the newspapers. When I start thinking about all that I'm ...OEMOTP1:
No, Mr. Bryant, I mean on the cover of NBA 2K10. How does THAT feel?Kobe Bryant:
... Oh ... well, that feels great, too. I'm a gamer. When I'm not in the gym working on my real game, I'm at home working on my virtual one so I can keep those youngsters like Derek Rose in line. NBA 2K9 was tight, no one, including me, thought 2K Sports could develop a better game, but they have, so when 2K Sports approached me about being the cover star for NBA 2K10 it was a no-brainer.OEMOTP2:
Kobe, can you tell us a little bit about this year's game? There must be some specific reasons why you think NBA 2K10 is better than last year's game?Kobe Bryant:
Sure. An obvious first reason is that I, along with almost every other player, have been completely remodeled and look unbelievably realistic close up. On top of that, you've got what 2K Sports dubs "Signature Play." What that means is that my shooting and dribbling styles have been captured perfectly, along with my emotion. Now when I cut through the lane and throw down a nasty dunk, I'll probably flex my muscles and yell in excitement, and you'll get to see all of that. Trust me, it goes a long way to making me, and every other player feel authentic and play uniquely. Another immediately noticeable aspect of this game that can't be overlooked is the arena atmosphere. I've played in some heated arenas and let me tell you, there's nothing quite like draining a three-pointer in Ray Allen's face when the whole crowd is chanting "Beat LA." The ensuing silence is priceless and 2K Sports has captured that perfectly as well. Oh, and the rim rattling dunks sound like rim rattling dunks this year.OEMOTP3:
Kobe, we got our hands on Draft Combine last month, can you tell us about the new My Player mode?Kobe Bryant:
It plays like most new modes in sports games do; it succeeds in some areas and fails in others. The goal is to create a player - or import yours from Draft Combine - and then take him through the summer circuit, survive training camp and hopefully at least make it on to an NBA team's bench to start the '09-'10 season. Making it into the NBA isn't a cake walk; not everyone can trot out of high school and into the pros and win four championships. No, most players have to grind it out and suffer through the growing pains and that's what My Player mode is all about. The mode is difficult, yet realistic, but almost to a fault. One thing video games are good for is to escape reality and achieve greatness when otherwise not possible. But every game in My Player mode firmly reminds you that you're not as good as yours truly, and developing your player doesn't happen over night. I've logged about 15 hours in this mode and my virtual Kobe isn't even a 55 overall yet. All-in-all though, I think My Player mode will appeal to a new fanbase, one with more patience, and one looking for a more RPG-style of play.Check out Scott's video review for more info on NBA 2k10!

With no objectivity to reviews like this, and if this was actually screened by Gamepro editors for "quality", I foresee Gamepro going the way of EGM soon. Honestly, this article really needed an editor. I mean, at least have a disclaimer that this interview is fake somewhere. I sure hope the author of this "review" was basically a blogger and did it for free.

BTW, talking about Detective work:
SwizzDot aka the Guy who wrote the NBA Live 10 review
NO LINKS FOR YOU
Quotes from SwizzDot's NBA Live 10 review:
"I dog the Live series a lot, and that's because the 2K series has always been a far better representation of real NBA action in my opinion." (this is the way the "review" starts)
"Don't forget to check out our review of the other basketball sim, NBA 2K10." (you explicitly point to the other game in the review)
Quotes from Scott's NBA 2K10 review:
"The frame rate issue may prove too frustrating for some gamers, but the true NBA fans will suffer through it when faced with alternative simulation games out there." (notice 2k10 is explicitly stated in the other review, but Live is referred to as just the "alternative" game in this review?)
...So, do you see what I'm talking about? Smell something fishy? These 2 reviewers are both in love with NBA 2k or have an axe to grind with EA. As a result they both threw their objectivity out the window.
I use to subscribe to Gamepro back in the day, then, admittedly, life got busy and gaming had to take a bit of a back seat to it. My image of Gamepro can be fixed, as long as this kind of review bias can be resolved.

Could it be simply that NBA 2K10 is the better game? Everyone has their opinions, and reviewers are infact, critics, and ultimately are giving you their opinion, or take on a game.
Facts, like terrible frame rate issues, are facts and had I not mentioned them I would have been doing the reader a disservice by not making them aware of the problem. I can see how in the sentence you used as an example that you think I'm being biased, and perhaps I should have worded it differently. The purpose of that sentence was to make it clear that the fanboys who have been putting up with this for years now will likely continue to put up with it regardless.
Reviewers, like Kevin and I, put aside any personal preferences when writing reviews, and if you do some keyword searches at gameprosports.com, you'll see that Kevin has expressed how underwhelmed he's been with NBA LIVE 10 since when he visited EA Canada months ago to get an early look at the game. Of course it's up for interpretation, but I think Kevin's review displays how he was surprised how good the game is in comparison to everything he saw first hand prior to the finished product. The sentence you quoted teasing readers to the NBA 2K10 review is nothing more than that, a tease, or way of directing traffic to another related story that readers may be interested in. It's common practice in journalism everywhere.
As far as your opinion of my review being in the form of a fictitious press conference? I tried something different with this review and you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I did make a video review for this game which is much more straight forward because I realized there were some things I simply couldn't address in the written review considering the I used in writing it.
All of that said, your concerns and critiques are certainly welcomed.

NBA Live is finished. Been with 2k since 2k3, I bought Live06 and I was done since then. Hopefully EA won't buy the NBA contract.

I am confused....How can you review this game so high? Go to the 2k forums, there are pages of complaints about the glitches with this game. The just released patch info is 2 pages long itself.
So I ask you....do you have a different version of 2k10 or are you just a 2k fan and everything they put out is gold?
