I like this game so far. Yes it seems like it has lost a little of it's spunk from the last game but it is still a well done RTS. It had a lot to match up to. There are some holes in the story though like...the Soviets no longer have nuclear missiles because Einstein wasn't around to create that technology anymore...but the Allies still haver prism technology that Einstein gave to them in Red Alert 2 (After Nukes were created). Bear in mind this has become a light-hearted game that doesn't pay attention to the details of the story. Red Alert 3 continues the tradition of over the top units and gameplay. The 3rd faction is well done.

I'm more than a little worried over what will happen with the development of the game, I like the idea, but EA seems to bring the old valor back with a new touch, but it seems like they rehashed Tiberium Wars into the Red Alert Series.

Only time can really determine if it sinks or swims. Good thing EA came with floaties.

I disagree with the reviewer on several points, although to be fair there has been at least one upgrade since this review, so maybe it was different before.

First, the co-commanders do an admirable job of carrying out their objectives. Not sure what happened with the reviewer, but in my games the co-commanders hold their own, do what they're told (when possible) and helped me out many times when I got in a pinch.

Second, the naval forces are an integral part of the game, moreso than even the first Red Alert. The reviewer seems to dismiss the naval aspect of the game solely because "it's never been a strong suit of the genre". Um, might I respectfully submit that the history of the genre is irrelevant to what this game has to offer, Mr. Reviewer? Naval combat is more than just an "enhanced sideshow", whatever that is. I would hazard a guess the reviewer did not progress far enough into the game to reach the Pearl Harbor mission.

This game is head and shoulders above C&C3 which I didn't like, and holds its own with RA1. There were only a few things I didn't like, headed by the cutscenes during combat which take over your mini-map but don't stop combat.

There are things the reviewer didn't mention that are good additions to the game. The number of special abilities has increased tremendously for all sides, and many are not dependent on building superweapons. So you can look forward to having your base bombed by orbital trash, struck with a surgical airstrike, exploded with a chronosphere-driven time bomb (that flashes "have a nice day!" before exploding - nice touch), kamakazied by a flight of planes, etc. Bases are a lot less safer than in previous Red Alerts, and I think this is a good thing. The co-commanders are a genius idea, and add a lot more depth and strategy to the game.
