Alladin: Nasira's Revenge

Come with Disney on a magic carpet ride! This 3D platform game pulls the genie out of the bottle once again.

Nasira, the wizrad Jafar's evil twin sister, has exiled the sultan and princess Jasmine. Now it's up to you to help Aladdin, set things right again. This 3D platform game from Argonaut Games PLC and Disney Interactive is a fun, but pretty conventional ride. Still, if you're an Aladdin fan, (and who isn't) there's a lot in Nasira's Revenge to enjoy.

You'll spend most of your time doing typical platform game tasks: coin collecting, jumping from platform to platform, pulling levers, smashing things to reveal hidden coins and powerups, and fighting some enemies with your sword and stomp moves. On the whole the controls are decent, however, the camera sometimes has a hard time keeping up with the action, and the controls for swinging on ropes are very frustrating at times.

The in-game graphics deliver a classic Disney look, and the character animations are very smooth. Solid pre-rendered cutscenes keep the story rolling along, and the excellent voice acting uses the talent from the TV cartoon. However, there is some texture warping, and some frame rate slowdown in a couple of places. Aladdin doesn't break any new ground graphically, but it's a good-looking game.

Aladdin Nasira's Revenge is a good platform game with solid production values that you'd expect from Disney. It sticks a bit too much to the formula and there are a couple of graphics and gameplay issues, although there are parts that really deliver some new fun, like a thrilling magic carpet ride. All in all, Aladdin Nasira's Revenge is a fun experience that's more suited to younger gamers.
