The classic war mecha anime Mobile Suit Gundam makes its next-gen debut in Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire.
Mobile Suit Gundam was the first anime to portray hyper realistic giant robots as mere war machines. The original 1979 anime series has spawned countless spin-off series, alternate reinterpretations, and continues to be a financial godsend for parent company Bandai.

In this latest PlayStation 3 rendition, you'll play as either a Federation or Zeon officer in the latter half of the One-Year-War on Earth from the original MS Gundam saga. As the game progresses you'll have the ability to command a Mobile Suit platoon comprised of 3 Mobile Suits and give orders on the fly during missions.
Crossfire sports a career based game engine which will enable you to unlock more powerful equipment, recruit skilled characters for your squad, and gain rank by accumulating experience points from completed mission objectives. It's rumored that you can even unlock prominent characters from the original anime, including Amuro Rey and Char Azanable, as wingmen in your platoon near the end of the game if your rank is high enough to command them.
Nothing can stop me know, thanks to that extra coat of rust-proofing!
Additionally, Crossfire will sport 30 modifiable Mobile Suits, over 150 equipable weapons and parts, including beam sabers, heat blades, sniper rifles, beam rifles, and bazookas. Mobile Suits are also not limited to a finite amount of generic equipment slots like previous Gundam games. Equipment slots will vary according to the advancement of the suit. For example, the Zeon Gouf model can sport Heat Blade, Hand Cannon, Heat Rod Whip, and a shield.
A big draw for Crossfire is the alternate approach the developers are taking by instituting a more realistic game engine. Sniper mode is now much more predominate in battle due to Crossfire's new region specific damage engine, which enables you to easily disable or maim enemy Suits with a few well placed shots. Moreover, the lock-on feature has been revamped and nerfed compared to the PlayStation 2 Gundam games. You'll only be able to maintain your lock-on to targets if you're facing your opponent and they're in your onscreen reticule.
