Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2

Xtreme Watersports

The other main game mode is marine race, a jet skiing mode than is reminiscent of Wave Race 64, but even more simplistic. Races run right next to the shore as waves crash against the side of your jet ski making controlling the craft difficult at times. The object is to beat the other racers, and to do this, you'll need to earn speed boosts by staying within marked buoys. Really, this is the only way to actually win a race because, as you'll see, the other girls aren't exactly pushovers.

Butt Bump, Set, Spike!

In addition to volleyball and jet skiing, there are other games that are more casual and quick, and show off the enhanced "jiggle physics" of DOAX2. For whom else but the smooth-skinned, giggly DOA girls could pull off such a next-gen feat?

There are four mini-games that were playable on this build, each of them providing exactly what you expect to get out of a mini-game: quick fun. Here is a description of each one.

Pool Hopping - Face off against another girl in a race across the length of a pool, hopping from across different colored floating squares. The object here is to beat your opponent to the end, and timing is the key to success. The islands are spaced out in different lengths, meaning you'll have to use the pressure-sensitive Xbox 360 buttons. A short press on a button performs a small step, while a long press triggers a leap. It's kind of like the water run from Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, without the life-threatening booby traps.

Butt Battle - Is there really any explanation needed here? Butt battle is exactly what you think it is. Two girls bump booties (analog stick motions perform different butt bumps) to knock each other off of a floating circular island in the middle of a pool. It's not fair, really. I've been pushing for butt battle sport recognition for years, but all I have to show for it is a memorable montage of kicks to the groin.

Beach Flags - This is a sprinting footrace on a sandy beach to be the first to grab a flag propped up in the sand. Put simply, the faster you mash the face buttons, the faster your girl will run, culminating with a timely dive to snag the flag.

Tug-of-War - Again, very straightforward. Use the analog stick to either pull your opponent toward you or let the rope loose to psyche them out. Of course, it takes place on separate floating pool islands, so the loser will take a pleasant dip.

The last mode is a little slideshow feature that lets you put together some scandalous shots of the lovely DOA ladies. You can dress them in attire you unlock through the game, and their unrestrained beauty is your reward.

There is one more game mode that is yet to be shown, but maybe we'll get a glimpse at the Tokyo Game Show next weekend. We'll keep you updated.
