ATV Offroad for the PS2 and PSP

The ATV Offroad series races back onto the PS2, and the PSP gets its own unique version.

ATV Offroad Fury 4 - PS2

The ATV Offroad series has broken through to post-trilogy status, and ATV 4 is the second game by developer Climax. Apparently 4 is a turning point for ATV, as the series is tearing up new ground. And it ain't just ATVs this time.

Three new vehicles are entering the series for the first time, including bikes, buggies, and trucks. I proposed the title ATV 4 + Bikes, Buggies, Trucks, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, but was shot down. Drag

The vehicles are divided into heavy and light classes, with ATVs and bikes in the former, and buggies and trucks making up the latter. Each vehicle has its own special handling and unique physics, and heavy vehicles can not be preloaded. This time there is a story mode that revolves around the new point-to-point races. Point-to-point races are not entirely free-roaming, but you can constantly choose either the light or heavy path to get to the final point, with each path color coded. The story will lead players through tracks in regions from Asia to Africa to Europe, and there are designated teams for each region.

Also new to ATV 4 is a track editor and tournaments. And, a cool new feature lets PS2 users share the ATV online community with PSP users to access message boards and email. Unfortunately, inter-platform play is not possible. But you can upload custom tracks to play in online races against 4-8 other racers.
