It's a me, Paper Mario! I'm a 2D again! It's a my second RPG! Check out the Hands On!
Anyone who has wanted to explore more of Mario's world will definitely want to keep an eye out for his latest outing. Paper Mario is a straight up, turn based RPG although it has its special quirks that fans will dig. The completed Japanese version looks great with wonderful colors and very Mario-esque tunes. What stands out so far is the cooperative nature of the gameplay, which requires you to team up with the inhabitants in order to progress. Just like in Super Mario RPG for the SNES, you can augment your attack by tapping on the appropriate buttons which adds a welcome interactive touch. The story and characters also shine brightly with humorous dialog and interesting situations. Nintendo usually does a great job of translating their titles for US release so all of these touches should remain intact if not improved for domestic tastes. With very few RPG's available for the N64, Paper Mario is looking like a sure winner.
