Scarface: The World is Yours

Scarface is finally coming to a console near you, but can it succeed in the post Vice City world? We have the answer inside!

Scarface is a lot like Bigfoot; we know it exists because we've seen its footprints and droppings, but confirmed sightings have been scarce. Well, believe it or not, we've played it and are here to spread the word on everything our precious little eyes have seen.

Okay, so by now we all know that the virtual version of Scarface has seen more than a lengthy delay, but in case you haven't been keeping up, we'll get you up to speed.

Car go boom! Now that's fun stuff!

Scarface is NOT a recreation of the original movie. Instead, VU is taking a different, more unique direction with the story. And why not? No one wants to play through the exact same experience of their favorite balls-out flick. The story is more of a "what-if" scenario. Instead of meeting his maker in the infamous mansion shootout, Tony Montana makes it out alive, setting the stage for the continuation of the Scarface regime. I think this is a smart move, mainly because Vice City pretty much out Scarfaced Scarface.

But the similarities between Scarface and Vice City are still rampant...not that it's a bad thing. Developers have been trying to copy GTA for years, and trying to do it in their own unique way usually makes for a diluted and sub-par end result. Perhaps the key to success is to rip off as much as possible, and in the process, do it even better. That's where Saint's Row is going. And while it may be a little late, Scarface looks to one-up Vice City, and so far, VU is on the right track.

The opening mansion shootout is plastered with insane gunfire, blood, and more swearing than a GamePro Monday morning editorial meeting. Tony blasts his way out of the mansion, though this time her gets through, save for a few bruises and minor flesh wounds -- small price to pay to continue the Scarface saga.

Just walk away Tony...just walk away
