The collaboration between Luxoflux (creators of Vigilante 8) and LucasArts for a Star Wars-based vehicular combat game looks promising. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Demolition will put you in a destructive tournament hosted by Jabba the Hut where you must pilot one of 10 vehicles from the classic film trilogy as well as Episode I.
The preview version showcased gameplay and physics similar to Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense, but the game was tweaked to give it a more Star Wars feel. You'll blast away on the nine highly interactive levels, grabbing droids as power-ups and basically destroying everything in your path. Levels will range from the battle on Hoth and Mos Eisley on Tatooine-all the way to a Gungan stronghold on Naboo. The game will feature many familiar Star Wars faces and vehicles-including Lando Calrissian and Boba Fett-along with new ones. It will also have some cool secret vehicles and characters to unlock. If things keep progressing well, Demolition should deliver some great Star Wars action this November.
