The real War of the Worlds is on its way? and we've got the pictures to prove it! We first caught a glimpse of Sega's multiplayer fragfest AlienFront Online at this year's E3, hiding way in the back corner of Sega's booth? but now the interstellar revolution is a step closer to home. The story? A race of xenocidal alien invaders knows as the Triclops have decided to turn the major cities of Earth into gooey hives of death and general unkindness. In defense, humanity lets loose its most powerful military assets, and all the world becomes a stage for destruction.

Up to four people can take control of the human tanks, while 4 others can climb in the command nodules of the aliens' spider-walkers and anti-grav hovercrafts for a giant online shootout throughout the Earth's xenoplasm-coated city streets, picking up power-ups and weapons upgrades, killing, dying, respawning, and repeating until one team reaches their target frag count and wins the day. While PC gamers have been blessed with solid network play for years, Sega is going the extra mile to make sure this is unlike any other online gaming experience available. Players will be able to communicate with their teammates and spew curses in alien tongues at their opponents with in-game voice chat, and for the first time ever, Dreamcast players at home can pit themselves against gamers playing AlienFront Online in the arcade. We've got a whole slew of screen shots for you to check out, but this invasion isn't hitting the home front until May of 2001.
