Developed by the same team that was behind the masterful Bushido Blade series on the PlayStation, Kengo continues the swordsman legacy on the PlayStation 2. With twenty fighters to pick from, the game also lets you develop your swordsman's abilities through rigorous practice and winning duels. The payoff: enhanced speed, strength, and access to more special moves to deliver the final deadly cut to your enemy. A simple, but versatile control scheme makes the fighting engine easy to pick up, but very tough to master. In addition to the health meter, your fighter's ki meter measures his spiritual strength. A full ki meter lets you unleash a devastating special move that, if it connects, can drop an opponent like a brick. While there are one hit fatalities that the Bushido Blade games were known for, Kengo lets you slice your opponents with with non-lethal blows a bit more, extending the combat time slightly. When you do score a fatal hit, spurting blood and slow motion death scenes emulate the classic samurai film genre that directors like Akira Kurosawa made famous. Look for Kengo: Master of Bushido to slash its way into stores in December.
