Mercury Meltdown

Mercury Meltdown for the PSP proves itself to be a challenging game, with the physics of the mercury frustrating players to no end. Those who found Archer Maclean's Mercury to be an entertaining game will find themselves drawn to Mercury Meltdown.

For those unfamiliar with the previous game, the premise is simple enough: tilt a tray in certain directions to get a ball of mercury rolling/moving/sludging toward the finish line to beat a level. There are several elements to determining how many points a player can gain; each percent of mercury left, beating the level under a certain time, and collecting bonuses will gain you more points. However, don't be deceived by this apparent simplistic play: the physics of the mercury is enough to drive anyone crazy. One could possibly curse at the screen while watching their poor ball of mercury lose bits of itself as it careens around impossible corners, leaving a trail of its gooey substance falling off the platform into the bright, colorful abyss.

What Mercury Meltdown has to offer, though, is more trickery--as in, there are more obstacles for your blob to overcome and/or achieve before it can reach the time limit. For example, there are stations called paint shops that are scattered throughout a tray where your blob can get itself a new shade of color. In order to mix colors, your blob has to be separated, colored separately, and then mushed back together to pass through certain triggers, doors, or barriers, all of which are color-coordinated. There's even a little color-mixing diagram in the top right hand corner of the screen to help.

Throw in some different-textured surfaces that will affect the speed and/or direction of your blob, elevated platforms, see-saw physics and more, and you'll be careening off sides of trays in no time--or owning those levels with all the might in the world. With some unlockable multiplayer games and other knickknacks, Mercury Meltdown has a bit to offer for any PSP owner.

i'm iinto horror style games, but at the same time i like puzzle games to.so this just looks like fun.so i bought it.glade i did, sometimes i need to take a break on the hard games when i get stuck, and i fill that time with a fun type game.and that's what this is ! just fun. balance, balance, balance. from the first level on,you'll have a hard time putting this one down.this is a game that if there's 5 people in the room with you, the'll have as much fun watching you play it as you have playing it. take a break, leave the zombie's alone for a while ( they'll be there when you return ) and have a few laughs for a change, you'll be glade you did. and hay,....if you think that this game should get a 4.0 rating, the only thing i can say is : lets see you get past the 2ed level ! i haven't yet ! have fun ,its grate
