Get ready for more hardcore racing action! Ridge Racer V is ready to roll out of the pit lane when the PS2 launches October 26th. The only changes from the Japanese version of the game will be from metric measurements and the Japanese language. The graphics show off highly reflective surfaces as well as smoke and lighting effects. Car handling is true to the Ridge racer series with plenty of powerslides through corners, but the handling physics have been given more subtlety, and you'll have to learn how to coax the cars around the turns with a lighter touch than before. Of course, a fat selection of racing teams and cars will be available, and you'll unlock even more as you progress through the game. Seven different courses will give racers more variety in tracks than in previous RR games. Grand Prix, Time Attack, and two-player Versus modes are the mainstay of gameplay. Dual Mode, where you keep your opponent's car if you win, and Free Run, where you can explore any track in any car at your leisure, round out the gameplay package. Finally, a new "race girl" named Ai, makes her debut as well, taking over for the original PlayStation games' icon Reiko Nagase. Ridge Racer V looks to peel out on PS2 D-Day October 26th.
