Chrono Cross

Rounding off Square's summer of fun, Chrono Cross arrives Aug. 16th and, guessing from the preview version, not a moment too soon.

Let's Do the Time Warp?Again!
A sequel of sorts to Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross promises awesome and varied gameplay. You'll travel between two dimensions (or parallel worlds), defeating Dragon gods and other nasties in search of answers to the chaos unleashed in the world. At the center of the plot is the main character, who just hasn't been himself lately. You can expect an expansive story that will be filled with side quests. The most unique feature about CC, however, has to be its cast of thousands. Well, make that around forty playable characters (each with their own set of special attacks) who will meet and pair off in the most unlikely circumstances. There will also be combo attacks, depending which characters are in the party at a particular point in the game, allowing you to try several approaches to each situation.

Chrono Gloss
The preview version presented colorful locations and characters, and, of course, the mandatory awesome cinemas (it just wouldn't be a Square game without them). The controls fared just as well, presented with several options and characters. You'll have no problem navigating the menus in order to match its characters with their best weapons and spells.

It Could Be a Contender
The battle system is unique, with up to eight levels of magic elements that will definitely provide a spell for every season. Topping the awesome scope of this game will be the multiple endings, which will require the player to finish the adventure several times in order to figure out which one is the good ending. All you RPG fans, already drooling over screens of FFIX, know you have a few months of waiting ahead of them. Hopefully, Chrono Cross will keep you busy until then.
