It takes a little something extra to succeed in today's RPG-rich console environment, and it look like Silver's got it. Offering gamers burnt out on Final Fantasy a little more action in their adventure, Silver is an eight-act juggernaut that will challenge even the most adamant console heroes. Told with prerendered backgrounds like Square's RPG masterpiece, Silver will bring to the table a twitch-based action system, a deep story, and, finally, full voiced dialog.

A Tarnished World
In Silver, you take the role of David, whose wife has been taken (along with the rest of the village's women) to become a concubine for the evil sorcerer Silver. As you might expect, David doesn't take too kindly to this sort of thing, and so he decides to fight against the evil mage. Luckily, David is quite a talented swordsman, and throughout his quest he meets new friends and finds items that allow him to use magic and perform more deadly sword techniques.

Silver And Steel
Silver's combat system is an action-based sword fighting contest, in which you dictate what techniques David uses by pressing one direction or another with the analog stick as you hold down the Right Trigger. It takes some getting used to, but it's a refreshing change from menu-based RPG combat. If Silver can combine that action feel with an engaging adventure storyline, then RPG gamers can look forward to something different on July 1.
