Will Quake fiends be hip to what Splash Damage and id Software are trying with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars? One thing's for sure--Quake just got a whole lot deadlier.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, an online shooter that combined military might with careful strategy, earned raves and a devoted fan base. Now Splash Damage and id Software are teaming up to bring these team-based tactics to the Quake universe. The results, so far, look stunning.Territorial Tinkerings
Even though the version we saw was at early alpha-level state, there's no doubt that the developers have spent their time wisely. Gone are the cramped, blood-spattered hallways of the Doom 3 and Quake 4. Instead, ET: Quake War's massive, sprawling, outdoor environments stretch as far as the eye can see, with no virtually no fog or draw-in to spoil the experience. Other visual frills we saw--like sparkling water and swaying foliage--blew the pants right off Battlefield 2. And this game's not even close to finished!
