Curious George

The naughty little monkey is starring in his own animated feature film and videogame for PS2 and Xbox.

Man's hairier relatives sure have been making a lot of videogame appearances lately: first Kong, then the unruly horde of monkeys in Ape Escape 3, and now, in conjunction with Universal Picture's new animated movie, will be making his PS2 and Xbox debut.

"The man with the yellow hat... has gone into the jungle in search of an artifact exceptional enough to save his museum from going under. On his way he meets the insubordinate little monkey, who then follows him to the city.

Aimed at a younger audience, the game starts out slightly less challenging than a Crash or Sonic game, but Namco Hometec's platformer isn't a complete walk in the park. In a DDR -esque minigame, where you must dance for two sailors, you'll most likely make a few boo-boos before proceeding. Other parts of the game will also require you to take a few cracks at it.

The game plays more or less like your conventional platformer as you'll collect items, solve puzzles, etc., but Curious George is devoid of any knives or guns, so it may be a more suitable alternative for the little ones. Voice talent from the film such as David Cross and Frank Welker have also lent their voices to the game.

The sole difference between the Xbox and PS2 versions is that the Xbox has crisper graphics, and it's only by a whisker. You can expect Curious G and friends sometime this February.
