Dial 911 TurboEA has sent out a preview version of the next blockbuster in the venerable Need For Speed series, and this time it's all about Porsche. Dubbed Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed, the new NFS unleashes Porsches on some of the coolest road courses in the world, from small town France to a harbor in Scotland. This title is Porsche in every direction, with a Porsche Evolution Mode that brings you through the history of Porsche from the 1950s to today, and a Test Driver Mode that brings mission-based play to Need For Speed.
Porsche Pursuit
Gone are the modes that propped up the NFS series, as EA has chosen to sideline the Hot Pursuit and High Stakes modes in favor of more party-based multi-play. You'll see Capture-the-Flag races and more when you plug more than one controller into your PSX. In the Evolution Mode, you buy, race, maintain and sell cars based on the game's internal supply-and-demand economy. Buy a classic car in the 60s, maintain it well, and you might be able to sell it in the 90s for mega-bucks. Just a little more coolness to help round out this all new Need For Speed.
Need For Need For Speed
Need For Speed faithful might be disappointed with the loss of popular features, but the new stuff should make up for that and more. The new graphics engine, while looking dated thanks to the PS2's recent launch, still makes those Porsches sing, while a new 4-point physics engine makes sure your car reacts like it's supposed to when you hit bumps or take turns too fast. If the final version plays and looks as well as the preview, then Porsche Unleashed should satisfy your need for speed when it's released in late March.
