Based on the sporadically running comic franchise of the same name, which has recently enjoyed immense popularity due to its recent animated TV incarnation, Teen Titans is poised to port the look and feel of its 2-dimensional brethren to the 3-dimensional plane.A2M has painstakingly recreated the game from the ground up and included an amazing amount of signature characters and locations from the animated series. Players will be able to assume the roles of the primary Teen Titan members, including Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven. Each character has their own unique traits and abilities which will help the team navigate certain environmental hazards and defeat specific foes more easily, such as Beast Boy's morphing ability, or Cyborg's strength.
In addition, players have the ability to switch between Titan members on the fly to employ tag-team moves and combos. Furthermore, Titans supports simultaneous four player co-op gameplay through 15 missions.
While the story mode adds an unwritten chapter to the Teen Titans continuum, Titans also has an Arena mode, which allows players to compete in Power Stone style matches with 24 unlockable characters in 13 various arenas.
Our early hands-on PlayStation 2 build featured three distinct levels were we got to face off against super villain bosses Gizmo, Mammoth, and Mumbo. The in-game graphics seemed a little clumsy, and the camera had a few problems keeping the entire Titans team visible onscreen, however Titans' gameplay looked solid and may be the only outlet for fans due to the rumored cancellation of the animated series.
