Shadow The Hedgehog

The mysterious Shadow the Hedgehog is getting his own game.

It's been almost fifteen years since a game first starred Sonic the Hedgehog. He's made a lot of friends along the way, but none more popular than the enigmatic figure of Shadow, first introduced in 2001's Sonic Adventure 2.

Shadow the Hedgehog finds the mysterious speed-demon's planet beset by malevolent aliens. Over the course of 20 stages, players constantly choose between good and evil as they help Shadow uncover his strange, forgotten past. Will you carefully pick off the alien baddies while protecting human grunts, or embrace a darker fate, serving the whims of your supposed creator? Evil actions charge one meter, while those in the service of justice fill another. Top off these gauges, and you can unleash powers like Chaos Control, giving you lightning speed, or Chaos Blast, which emits a devastating shock wave. Your choices also determine what course you play next, not to mention the awkwardly presented storyline.

Shadow can take enemies down with a variety of guns, or with melee weapons uprooted from the environment. It might seem odd that a creature so light on his feet should find a use for vehicles, but Shadow is fully licensed to operate motorcycles, SUVs, and even alien ships.

While these ingredients are certainly far afield from what we've come to expect from the series, in practice the platform hopping and rail grinding level designs, familiar characters, and sheer speed combine to give an air of familiarity and promise to Shadow's dark new tangent.
