How many crappy 24-hour days can a fella have? Jack must've been a bad boy in his previous life.
The Emmy award winning suspense thriller 24 is coming exclusively to the PlayStaion 2. 24 The Game will take place between seasons two and three of the television series and promises to resolve enigmatic plot questions concerning who was behind the attempted assassination on President Palmer, why did Counter Intelligence Unit agent Jack Bauer's daughter, Kim Bauer, begin working for CTU, and many more. 24 The Game will be a third-person action title featuring gun battles, various stealth aspects, sniping missions, and a host of mini-games.In our hands-on build, we assumed control over CTU agent Jack Bauer as he infiltrates a gang hideout and attempts to locate a prominent underworld figure to recover information on a terrorist plot. Jack sported the usual third-person action game capabilities, including the abilities to fire while under cover, stealth sneak, drag and hide bodies, and search prone characters.
Interspersed throughout the demo were neat mini-games and multi-paneled window cut scenes, which totally capture the tension of the original series. In one of the mini-games, Jack must interrogate a criminal to ascertain the whereabouts of hidden snipers perched along a presidential motorcade route. Players are prompted to press corresponding buttons to raise a tension meter to get your prisoner to talk. Ask too hard and he'll clam up; ask too soft and the President may die.
The build featured a wonky physics engine and bad clipping, but 24 The Game is still in the early stages of development and hopefully the problems can be addressed because this one smells like a winner.
