Delta Force: Black Hawk Down

It's been over 10 years since the ill-fated incident, but that doesn't mean playing Black Hawk Down is old news.

Sure, it appeared on the PC two long years ago, but with interest for anything related to special operations around the world still high, Black Hawk Down is certainly relevant in today's gaming world.

For the unfamiliar, Black Hawk Down is based on the events that took place in Somalia in 1993 when the U.S. military was conducting humanitarian missions in a heavily war-torn countryside. In the game, you take on the role of an elite member of the Delta Force, Army Rangers, and 10th Mountain Division in 16 missions that vary from rescuing U.N. workers to hunting Somali warlords to manning a gun on a Black Hawk gunship and in an armored Humvee. All missions are loosely based on actual past maneuvers, but completing objectives could require totally different tactics in the game.

The most striking feature, however, is the game's multiplayer mode. NovaLogic is already touting that its servers can easily hold up to 50 players at a time without any lag. A multiplayer deathmatch with only four people on an early build already felt and looked good, and running through the single-player game performed just as well.

The Delta Force is known for its secretive nature, but let's hope that the veil is lifted for its latest mission on the Xbox.
