Koming soon komplete with more superfluous K's.
Mortal Kombat has proven itself as a successful fighting franchise, but when it ventured into other genres, the results were less than stellar (ahem, Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Special Forces). Yet some success was found in the RPG-ish Konquest mode in Deception, and Shaolin Monks looks to build on that with a similar 3D quest-and-fight play scheme. Monks tells the story of kombatants Liu Kang and Kung Lao, and follows them through their journey, where the biggest secrets and rumors of the MK universe are revealed. The game features a one- and two-player co-operative mode with environments that showcase classic MK-stage settings, such as the Living Forest and other trademark locales. There's no shortage of MK characters, either, as Mileena, Jade, Kitana, Goro, and Baraka (among others) resurface at various points during the game's narrative. Being an MK game, there's bound to be plenty of violence, carnage, and (hopefully) fatalities. Monks is the first in a series of games based on the MK franchise that publisher Midway claims will appear annually.
