MVP Baselball 2005

MVP baseball 2005 should step up to the plate with a little swagger.

After putting on a strong showing in 2004, MVP Baseball is going into the 2005 season with confidence. In particular, there are nice touches being added to the already fine controls.

At the plate, MVP puts a little more science into the art of hitting. The Hitter's Eye feature enables you to analyze every at-bat. This technique uses the game's replay feature to diagram the flight of a pitched ball through the air and enables you to see your swing. If you like, you can examine your stroke after each pitch to see when the ball left the pitcher's hand and when your bat made contact (hopefully) with the ball. In the preview build it was a snap to move the camera around to every viewing angle, and you could even zoom in to examine the rotation on the pitch.

On defense, the game's simple field and throw system mirrors last year's technique and lets you quickly get the hit ball back to any base with ease. You can also regulate the quickness and power of your throws from the field. Switching outfielders to run down long hits feels better although the early version still produced a few odd turns and misdirected players. So far, MVP appears to be doing the little things that go into building a championship ball club.
