Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal prepares to ratchet up the sci-fi action and prove that comedy and combat go together.

Ratchet and Clank are moving up?your arsenal, that is. Under the guidance of Insomniac Games, the heroic sci-fi duo are preparing for another round of wicked robot-whacking and oddball humor, and this time they?re going online, too.

Following their victory in last season?s Going Commando, Ratchet and Clank are enjoying life as the planet Bogon?s most-famous personalities. While this sets up plenty of humorous cinema sequences, it?s not too long until Dr. Nefarious and his Terranoids arrive to steal the show.

At this point, the guys really do get the chance to up their arsenal by discovering 20 weapons throughout the game including five returnees from Going Commando. Fourteen of them can be powered up to four levels, and, unlike Commando, you can attain all the upgrades during a single playthrough. Up Your Arsenal continues to brew the Ratchet and Clank formula of fun with firepower in fierce third-person view combat versus a weird and wacky assortment of mechanical menaces and extraterrestrial monstrosities.

Online gameplay gets crazy, too. Up to eight players in two teams of four can engage in capture-the-fort action set in their choice of six battlefields. Two-person vehicles enable you to team up down low on a speeder bike or up above for dive-bombing runs in a hovercraft. There will also be overlapping voice support for USB headsets.

Even in an early preview form, Up Your Arsenal looks like the place to be for outrageous cartoon combat.
