Unfortunately, the latest build doesn't show the Million Dollar Man stuffing a hundred down the loser's throat.
Legends of Wrestling returns with a whopping 73 wrestlers spanning three decades of ?sports entertainment.? With no Bra and Panty match to be found, the game focuses on all the famous yesteryear wrestlers, including Jake the Snake, Ted Dibiase, Hulk, and even Andy Kaufman. Just the fact that so many old schoolers are in the game will be a huge appeal to people who have fond memories of the WWF.Rectifying the control problems from previous games, grappling moves are now easy to time and execute in both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox version, bringing a sense of simpleton satisfaction -- although it wouldn't hurt to have more depth in gameplay. In addition to the career mode, which enables you to start as a wrestler from the 1970s and continue to the 1990s, the game features a whole flurry of types of matches, including Table, First Blood, Ladder, Cage, and Battle Royal.
The graphics look less cartoonish than those in previous games, and the PS2 version looks slightly cleaner than the Xbox game. The sounds promise to bring a sense of authenticity with two-man commentary by Bobby ?The Brain? Heenan and Tony Schiavone, as well as music composed by ?Mouth of the South? Jimmy Hart.
The Legends of Wrestling franchise has some catching up to do if it wants to overtake the WWE SmackDown series, but with Mr. Fuji at its side, anything is possible.
